Who We Are
Founder:
Robert D. “Bob” Katz focuses on bringing together the key resources needed to address an assignment. The Katz Firm teams with specially-qualified law firms, expert witnesses, engineers, and others to increase efficiencies and results. Mr. Katz is one of only a few lawyers willing to partner with clients regarding litigation costs, preferring to be paid for results instead of hours billed.
Mr. Katz practices in the field of intellectual property litigation. Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Katz jointly opened a patent infringement law firm office in Dallas, which was part of an East Texas litigation firm, Patton Roberts, PLLC, to expand the firm’s intellectual property practice. Before that, Mr. Katz was a litigator in the intellectual property practice in the Dallas office of Jones Day, one of the top law firms in the United States. Mr. Katz has more than twenty years of technical experience in the development of electronic and software systems. Prior to becoming an attorney, he worked as a software architect designing embedded real-time systems, database applications, billing systems, communications systems, and classified systems for the defense industry.
Mr. Katz has represented clients in patent litigation matters involving Internet technologies, cellular phones, computer software, semiconductor fabrication, business methods, multimedia receivers, and computer components. He has also represented clients in matters involving trademark infringement, copyright infringement, and claims of trade secret misappropriation.
(Through co-counsel arrangements, Mr. Katz can represent clients in any U.S. Federal District Court.)
Mr. Katz’s litigation experience has involved computer software, electrical engineering, specialized business methods, telecommunications, semiconductor fabrication, and mechanical engineering.
